Here are some of them: 1. No crowds – by the second week of September, it’s back to school and all the holidaymakers and locals alike have headed home. Finding a spot in the harbour, a secluded beach or anchorage, a quiet fish tavern and enjoying the peace is all possible ..

Poll: Affordable and crowded or pricy and exclusive, you decide

There is nothing quite like the moment when the engine is switched off, the sails are raised and the only sound is the wind in the sails and the slapping of the ropes on the mast.  All eyes are on the horizon, the sails of fellow sea travelers dotting the vast expanse of blue. For some, the sight of fellow seaman is reassuring, pleasing even; others prefer to be the only boat around, purposely avoiding the crowds and seeking out remote islands and anchorages. Simplicity, safety and c..

Robust, spacious and luxurious, Bavaria 46 Cruiser was crowned 'European Yacht of the Year' (2015) for a reason. This Bavaria/Farr collaboration upgraded the existing charms of Bavaria 45 Cruiser into the spacious, modern and convenient 46 Cruiser. It's a new addition to our offer and we've thoroughly enjoyed taking this classy beauty for a sail along the coast of Pula and would definitely say we understand why this boat is not only a favored choice for owners but a desired charter yacht as w..

Mljet - Forested Haven of the Adriatic

Located in the Southern Adriatic, Mljet is one of the islands that might have even been a location from Homer's ancient works. A forested haven sprouting in the middle of the salty Adriatic Sea, this island is an excellent nautical location thanks to its well-indented coast and fascinating anchorages and coves. Rich with historic, cultural and natural wonders, it’s not hard to imagine Mljet being a dwelling place for Calypso, the famous sea nymph from Homer’s epic poem Odyssey. Natur..

Sitting out the Storm in Steni Vala, Alonissos

As the boat glided into the harbour, anchor dropping and ropes at the ready to throw out, it seemed oddly quiet in Steni Vala, Alonissos. Another two sailboats bobbed on their anchors and a bright orange and blue crayfish caique was coming in behind us. We jumped onto the quay in search of real greek coffee and conversation. After surveying the tranquil scene, we settled on the blue and white café under the gum trees and happily sat down under their shade. Fellow sailors at the table next to ..

You asked for it… put it on!

Quite a few of you asked us if there would be free crew shirts this year. There will! Like last year, for each rented boat in Croatia we give out Yacht Rent t-shirts for the entire crew. The only condition is that you send us at least 2 (the more the better!) photos that also include the shirts (for example, crew members in t-shirts on the boat or… something your own creativity makes up :) ) and a few sentences of follow-up text describing your vacation on the boat. We’re also conside..

Searching for Something Real - Agia Kiriaki, Greece by Sail....

Jutting out of the eastern shoreline of central Greece and curving into the Aegean Sea, like a giant fishhook, is the Pelion Peninsula. On the tip of this hook, like bait glistening in the sun, is the fishing village of Agia Kiriaki, hoping to catch passersby. In their rush to get to the Sporades, most boats simply sail past this tempting stopover, but this is the destination we set sail for from the port of Volos.  Our crew is a mix-match of people brought together by mutual friends..
